Ah, the dreams of the inhabitants of this twisted world were interesting... though none of them truly satisfied him. As Gobe walked through each like a phantom, wings spread as if ready to flee at a moment's notice, he kept himself invisible. He much preferred being a voyeur, a silent observer rather than a participant within these dreams and nightmares. He was omniscient in these dreams, exactly how he liked it. Though not tonight. Tonight, the dreams felt bland and lifeless.
As wolves roused from sudden claps of thunder racketing in their heads, Gobelinus opened his mismatched eyes. The crystals that hung around his neck like pendants slowly ceased their powerful glow. Reflections of the dreams he witnessed were soon trapped within the orbs, moving and flitting like a slideshow of the supernatural. Sighing gently, he rose from the large mushroom, the very throne of the labyrinth he resided in, before stretching his wings. He looked almost imposing, startlingly masculine despite the effeminate glow around his eyes.
He hopped from his mushroom perch, silently stalking through the halls of the maze that he called his own. It did not belong to him rightfully; no, lands belonged to no one in particular. However, he was the only one who truly understood this cornucopia of walls and dead ends. He could always navigate through them, and when he realized that, he knew that this would be where he called home.
An unfamiliar scent caused him to lift his head lightly, his eyes starting to haze in soft curiosity. He would stay amiable for now, he supposed... "Who has entered this death trap?" he mumbled to himself, moving forward to try and follow the scent.

Mionta wandered deeper into the mysterious labyrinth, she had decided to tempt fate and venture into the infamous labyrinth that had claimed the lives of so many wolves before. As a pup she had heard the gruesome tales of the wolves that dared go into the labyrinth who died because of exposure or the even more unfortunate ones that drank the water. But one story stood out to her in particular, the story of the wolf that lived in the Labyrinth, many said that he was a myth but Mionta wasn't so sure.
Mionta’s ice green eyes scanned the cave she was in, the air around her smelt stale and full of decay. She felt the faint pulse of energy coming from the flora that surrounded her like a miniature forest. She looked at the dark grey stone that was covered by various florescent mushrooms and mosses that eerily lit up the cavern. She went up to sniff one of the mushrooms and could smell the poison that had infused itself into the mushroom over time. How could anything survive in here? She wondered, the labyrinth was one of the most inhospitable places in all of Arvoxses, why would any creature want to call a place that could easily kill you, or make you lose your mind, home? Mionta stop to look at a patch of orange moss that was pulsing brightly, when she felt the air change around her. Something was here and it was coming towards her.

Perhaps Gobe's mind was already lost.
He could barely remember his true name any more; only one other wolf knew it, and as far as he knew, she was long gone and far away from Arvoxses. Everything about him was bound to this area of mazes and poison. His wings flapped once, and the small gust made the powder from the mushrooms disappear from his pelt, making it clean once more. His eyes narrowed as he stalked toward the intruder. What in hell would she be able to find in this wasteland? Perhaps she had gotten lost... surely, though, she knew the stories of this place, with its undrinkable water and its poison-laden vegetation?
If she was here for games, though, she certainly came to the right place.
It was a female who had stopped in his labyrinth, causing Gobelinus's eyes to narrow a bit further. Yet, he still held a light smirk on his muzzle as he approached her, leaning in slightly to invade her personal space. "Don't you know it's dangerous for little girls to enter this place?" A sarcastic tease lifted his features a little, and he soon forgot about the memories that had been previously polluting his judgement. He'd have fun with this, just as he had any other time.

Mionta’s eyes narrowed at the older wolf that was in very close proximity to her. Standing her ground she stared at the older wolf, studying him, he had a look in his eyes that said that he wasn’t completely present; part of his mind was still wandering the corridors of the labyrinth. “If it is dangerous for little girls to be wandering around, then what makes it safe for a senile wolf?” Mionta replied, not liking that he was challenging her or making her seem inferior to him.
The male standing in front of her looked as if he had never seen the light of day, his markings were shimmering in the faint light.
Mionta let herself feel the energy around him, it too seemed to come and go as if it was travelling far from his body, only to come back to the dark corners of the maze. She appraised him some more, and was surprised to see that he had the wings of a bird, up to this point she had never come across a wolf with such a mutation. She wondered how a wolf could stay here for so long in such seclusion for so long and not fall victim to the illnesses of the mind.

Ah, so the girl had some bite, did she? This made a slight smirk appear on the corners of Gobe's mouth. He did not deny his senility; he was, indeed, getting older, and with age came strange things... things that he didn't once think about. The fragility of his own existence was a common thought that appeared to him, like some phantom as he was in others' dreams.
He regarded the girl again with mismatched eyes, his head tilting to the side. Had she been one of his victims of voyeurism while she dreamed? He didn't recognize her, and he usually remembered the faces of those who unwittingly granted him hospitality. She was not one of them. He began to walk around her, looking at her from every angle with a smoldering gaze. "You have heard them, though, haven't you? The stories? Isn't that what drew you here? A sense of danger, a need to prove yourself...?" he murmured, his eyes glinting as he focused his attention on her. What was he even trying to prove, here? He didn't know himself. It was the love of the games in which he made up the rules, that was what drove him.

Mionta gazed at the other wolf passively, what exactly did he want from her? Was he here because he was on some sort of power trip, or was he trying to interact with her, but lacked the skills to do so.
"Every wolf in Arvoxses has heard a fable about this place one time or another, I'm here to see if there is some truth hidden in the fairy tales. I want to know if this place is truly dangerous or just an old wives tale."
She felt a shift in the old wolf, somehow his energy felt younger, more playful, ready to start mischief.
Mionta looked around at the cave, besides the mushrooms, there was barely and stimulus for wolf. Why would one want to voluntarily stay here when there was so much more to see in Arvoxes.
"What has possessed you to stay here? Why live in constant danger when you can live out in the daylight, like a normal wolf. Not trapped in your mind, in a series of caves."
Mionta wondered if these questions even had an answer, the old wolf might not have an explanation for them. He could just be a victim of circumstance, and now is caught in the labyrinth, and an invisible force was keeping him there.

A ghost of a smile graced his lips once again as the girl spoke, the tip of his tail twitching lightly. "I assure you... there is always truth hidden in fairy tales..." His eyes flashed with mirth as he finally ceased his pacing, staring directly at her and not letting his gaze waver. It was almost unnerving, the amount of energy and focus he put into one single thing.
She spoke again, trying to read him. That very notion made him throw his head back and let out a hearty, throaty chuckle. "You imply that any of us here are normal, my girl," he shot back, his eyebrow raised as he regarded her again. "I did not choose the labyrinth -- it chose me. It called to me, and I merely answered, as you are now." He paused for a moment, his wings stretching out as another wicked grin appeared on his maw. "We are all living in constant danger, my girl. This place provides safety only to those who look at it as a sanctuary and not a prison."

Mionta met his gaze smirking, her ears pricking forward slightly, she was not about to be intimidated by this wolf. She decided that she would humor him in his game and see where it leads. Maybe I will find a worthy adversary within this charade. Then it dawned on her that she still knew nothing about him. She didn't know where he came from, or even his name. "Well since we have both been called by the power of the labyrinth it must have meant for us to meet, and to get to know each other. What is your name?" Mionta half expected him to not reply at all, but rather, stare at her and let his mind wander rather then engage her. Mionta wagged her tail, slightly. She was intrigued by this wolf but she wondered where her intrigue might lead her. After all curiosity killed the cat.

As the woman spoke, Gobe's ears perked lightly. His... name. A sudden burst of uneasiness washed over him, and his mismatched gaze darted away for a moment. Oh, he hated the power that was held in a name... a name he barely remembered himself. He vowed that he would have never given away such a key to his mind, his being, ever again. The others threw names around so carelessly, not realizing what power they hold over someone... His wings flapped suddenly, trying to snap himself out of it.
"Gobelinus," he stated. It suited him, he was a goblin of the night, never straying far from his poisoned home. His real name? Not at all. She would never get the pleasure of that, though. Perhaps she understood the significance of a name and its hold. It would be of little consequence to him if she gave him a false name as well. "Might I have the pleasure of a reciprocation, my girl?" he purred, his unease lifting away like the poisoned powder on his fur.

She felt the energy around him change in an instant, she felt him shy away from the question. That is odd for a wolf that takes such a strong stance, to cower from such a simple question. Mionta saw his cyclical pattern of anxiety start to overwhelm him, his entire body reacted trying to break him from it. Mionta stared at him passively until he calmed down. Her tail still was swaying slightly. She broke her stare to look at all of the mushroom spores that Gobelinus had disturbed in his wake. Thousands of spores floated in the air twirling in a random pattern as the slowly descended to the cavern floor. Mionta's attention was drawn back to Gobelinus as he started to calm down. She shook out her fur and started to circle around Gobelinus slowly. Her footfalls were nearly silent as she made her way around him. "My name is Mionta. But there must be a shorter version of yours, Gobelinus is quite the mouthful." She drawled. Her namesake was derived from her unique colouring and a mix of a different language spoken by her ancestors. The ability to give Gobelinus her name came easily for Mionta. She had nothing to hide and nothing to be afraid of, as long as she stayed vigilant and silent Mionta would be safe from all that Avroxes had to offer.

And so the circling began again, but not from him. She seemed to believe she had power, more over him. She did not know his real name. She had nothing. His smile was bemused as he raised an eyebrow at her, his eyes following her as she moved around him. "Mionta..." he repeated, his voice a rumbling purr. The name tumbled out from his maw like some sort of exotic mantra. He enjoyed it, and felt empowered again. Was it her real name? He couldn't be certain. But wolves here rarely seemed to understand the power within their own calling cards. Mionta was probably no different.
"Are you suggesting that I should have a pet name?" he asked, his eyebrow still raised in a teasing look. He then shrugged lightly, his wings folding neatly on his back. "If it suits you, Gobe is perfectly fine," he mumbled. He then averted his eyes, looking back towards the light, the place where Mionta came from. What held her back, what kept her outside and shut the light for him inside? He couldn't help but wonder. "What is so great about what's outside, my girl?" he asked blandly, his ears twitching a little as he awaited her response.

"Life is outside." She replied nonchalantly, "Outside these caves there is light, possibility and a chance to make choices. In here there is no time, it is stagnant. There is no opportunity to grow in here, you remain static unable to break away from the labyrinths binds."Towards the end of her little monologue she started to become more energized and passionate. Couldn't he see that there was much more to life then internal thought?
However, the power that was displayed in the glint of his eyes, made her a bit weary. What could a wolf that has kept himself hidden away from the world possibly do with a name? Little did he know that the power he was displaying could been taken away quite literally; she could slowly siphon away his life energy until he would join the unfortunate ones who died in the cave. Mionta stopped her circling quickly shook herself from that mind frame. That was her curse trying to take a hold of her mind and destroy everything. Mionta began to study Gobe again, her ears flicking around aimlessly, he seems to take great importance and power from names. Does he not know that absolute power corrupts absolutely?

An ear flicked again in idle thought as she spoke, his gaze still locked on the cave's wall behind her. The idea of light, of people... surprisingly did not bother him. He did not recoil from the sun's rays that leaked through his home like a snake or vampire. He welcomed its rays as he welcomed any visitor in his labyrinth... but he couldn't fool himself. At this point, it was too late for him to venture outside and away from the dank darkness of his abode. Probably in her eyes, it would be easy for him to backtrack, but... did he even want to? Not especially... but he did venture away for necessities like food and water. It wasn't unnatural for him to be seen wandering the grounds near the labyrinth, being as quiet as a nighttime breeze.
He had grown for far too long... and it was funny, how most didn't understand how constantly his labyrinth would change, grow as its own entity. It, too, lived, in ways that nobody but Gobe could understand. He watched as she stopped circling, and her posture intrigued him. It was as if she could read him somehow. He could, too, in a way. "My girl, perhaps you have not spent enough time in here in order to understand... that this labyrinth is far from static."

Mionta looked at him incredulously, "Not static? Please tell me how a series of caves can defy laws of nature, and morph in a new series of corridors?Your interpretation of the labyrinth may change but the labyrinth stays the same." Minota did not understand why the old wolf could not separate himself from the labyrinth. Instead he talked as if they were one being.
Mionta became antsy, she wanted to see everything the labyrinth had to offer. Maybe Gobe can show me the labyrinth, and I can show him the outside world. She then sauntered in front of Gobe and sat down, "I have a proposition for you. If you show me some of the secrets of the labyrinth, I will show you the outside world. Maybe you will enjoy what it has to offer." She looked at Gobe expectantly, her ears were pricked and she was ready for action. Mionta did not want to admit it to herself but it was her curse that had brought her here. The curse had been getting stronger each day and Mionta found herself subconsciously testing its limits, drawing more and more power from the earth. So when she heard about the primal power that the labyrinth allegedly obtained, Mionta's subconscious drove her to explore the confusing network of caves to taste the potent power that the labyrinth concealed from the rest of the world.
