Looking out over the edge of the falls, Minota watched the suns red and orange rays creep up from behind the trees and start to mix with the neon red light coming from the vines bellow. The femme had been restless all night, she had given in to her curse the day before and now she was filled with energy that was not hers. She could feel the energy coursing through her veins; the foreign energy made her feel invincible physically, but mentally filled her with shame and regret. She was haunted by the flashbacks of watching the flora and fauna around her die, all because she had lost control and took what was not hers.
The forest was silent around her as Mionta danced along the sides of the river watching the water reflects the light in thousands of different directions as it tumbled over the edge. She peered over the edge of the waterfall, staring down at the dark watery depths of the lake bellow, to see if anything was awakening. Seeing nothing, Mionta daintily laid down and crossed her paws, surveying the land around her. Everything was still and tranquil, the forest was mimicking what nature was supposed to be like, not the mutated version that Arvoxes had become. She had heard stories about what Arvoxes used to look like; Mionta was fascinated by the concept of wolves leading normal lives and not being caught up in the supernatural.
Ever since Mionta’s powers had manifested she had felt out of sorts with the rest of the world. When her powers first came it did not impact her greatly, every now and again she would have a feeling come over her where she felt connected to the entire forest, and she could feel all of the life within it. It was when forest’s life force that she felt apart of started to slowly be absorbed into her body that her life drastically changed.
She started to notice all of the light that was being omitted by the plants around her dim and the plants starting to wilt. Mionta was alarmed by this, but it did not stop her from giving in to the allure of her powers. But soon just draining plants was not enough; she needed a more potent life force. Her focus shifted to insects and small animals, Mionta started to take too much from the animals, killing them, and she felt her powers starting to pin out of control, so she stopped energy letting all together. The oppression of her power lead to horrifying consequences as her control slipped and ended up draining and killing everything around her. It was from then on that her power became her life burden and she longer referred to is as a gift but more as a curse, because everywhere she went death followed. Mionta’s train of thought was broken by some flamboyantly coloured birds flying out of a grove of trees. She lifted her crown, and smelled the air to see if anything was nearby. The femme did not sense anything, but held still to listen closely to the forest.
