The Higher Ups

The Empress: Syndra

The pack's alpha and possibly the most feared wolf in the area. She dabbles in Necromancy and possibly other dark arts, justifying most wolves' initial fear of her. Syndra has the last say on everything and, a few corpses aside, her word is law.

The Lord Protector: Vetis

This is the closest thing to a 'second-hand' as this pack will ever get. The Lord Protector not only serves as Syndra's bodyguard, but a figure in the pack who is given enormous flexibility [politically, rank-wise, etc] by the Empress, as they are one of the few who can comment on her laws or plans without getting his throat yanked out. Normally, the two are almost never seen too far from each other, especially when Syndra leaves the pack's territory. Their main job is to protect Syndra, but they are next in line to lead if anything does happen to her.

The Spymaster: OPEN

The best Assassin/Scout, they are one in the same in this pack - for obvious reasons, in the Empire. They not only are in charge of supervising the training of the current/future assassins in the pack one basic training has concluded, but are also expected to gather intel at all times. The latter has put pressure on this wolf, as they are the main source of information of everything outside the territory...well, the only one Syndra truly trusts. This wolf in particular is a member of Syndra's inner circle, a group based on the foundations of mutual respect, but not immune to disagreements.

The Overseer: OPEN

The best warrior in the pack, to put it simply, a rather weighty position considering the emphasis on violence in The Morbid Empire. This wolf is not only in charge of the pack's warriors and keeping them in shape and, more importantly, in line, but in charge of training the younger ones until they are of age to take on specialized training. The Overseer tends to use his position to watch out for dissent in the pack and is extremely vicious in uprooting it. They are also a member of Syndra's inner circle, a group based on the foundations of mutual respect, but not immune to disagreements.

The Transcendent: OPEN, OPEN, OPEN

These are actually a group of three wolves, outside of Syndra's inner circle, but immensely important nonetheless. They supervise both the Healers and the Hunters, and study spiritual realm/dark arts in order to further empower themselves and the pack. They are the few remaining wolves who originally sought Syndra out before the formation of The Morbid Empire, and each acts as a sort of spiritual figure in the pack - much like a Shaman but with a darker twist. They are secretive figures in the pack and interact very little with anyone who isn't Syndra or the Spymaster. They act as a spiritual figure in the pack, as well as act as master healers - although those who are beyond saving are cast out.

RANKINGS

The Rest

The Soldiers:

Generically speaking, these are the ones who fight, guard, and patrol the expansive deserts of The Empire. They spend their days training under the watchful eyes of the Overseer or doing their various jobs appointed to them by the Overseer. The stronger, more reliable ones are given harder patrols as they seem more trustworthy in the eyes of both Syndra and the Overseer, more is expected of them, but many hope to be rewarded with higher positions within the pack.

The Shades:

The Shades are the Assassins/Scouts that have proven themselves and are being given jobs by the Spymaster, and thus report to them. They are chosen based on their talents in speed, endurance, intellect, and stealth, but nowadays a wolf able to gather intel without bringing attention to himself is highly regarded within the pack.

The Acolytes:

Acolytes work directly under the Transcendent, and this is considered a more 'scholarly' pursuit within the clan as their focus of is the spiritual arts and other such powers. Only wolves with certain mutations, gifts, or talents are allowed into this group. If their powers arose early, then they were able to bypass the mandatory 'basic training' in the Empire's army. Acolytes are the only group that are immune to being cast out after reaching a certain age as they possess immense knowledge of magic, healing, etc by the time where it would normally be considered appropriate to abandon them.

The Hunters:

Food and water are hard to come by in the Desert, and so these wolves are under enormous pressure to gather enough food to satisfy everyone. They are normally foraging/hunting long before many of the others are even awake and are the last to go to sleep. They are treated extremely well, considering the mentality of the pack, and are highly regarded by every pack member, as they allow the pack to survive. They report to the Transcendent or to the Spymaster in certain cases.

The Rest:

Anyone who is left over is either a pup or a loyal, elderly member of the pack that Syndra or another high ranking member chose to keep in the pack because they still offer certain use. The Elderly are cast out along with all members considered to be 'weaklinks'.
